Physical Education Department Kit Policy
The learning that takes place in the Physical Education department is far greater than participation in physical activity. With this in mind we require all pupils to be appropriately dressed at all times for involvement in physical activity.
What PE kit should pupils be wearing?
Pupils should have a full change of clothes including a Vale of Leven Academy PE top, dark shorts/tracksuit bottoms and footwear. Pupils will be aware of block changes and are encouraged to check weather forecasts in advance if they are participating in outdoor activities. In the event of outdoor PE during colder months, pupils should bring jumpers and waterproof jackets.
PE Department t-shirts can be purchased here.
What if pupils are unwell or injured?
If pupils are injured or unwell they will be excused from physical activity if it is likely to cause them further medical problems. We do however require these pupils to be changed so that they can participate in a non playing role. This may be to officiate a game, support a performance or take part in aspect of the lesson that is not too physically demanding.
What if a pupil forgets their PE kit?
Pupils who arrive in the department without kit will be supplied with freshly laundered kit in order to participate in the lesson, an equipment demerit will then be recorded for the pupil.
If a pupil accumulates three demerits, a text will be sent to parents/carers to ask them to support their child and help them organise their kit in future. If there is no improvement the Curriculum Leader will contact parents to discuss how we can best support the pupil. If there is no improvement at this stage, parents/carers will be invited to meet with the Curriculum Leader to discuss tailored support.
Any pupils refusing to use the department kit being supplied will be deemed to be refusing to participate. In this case the school discipline procedure will be followed.
